Meat Consumption Risk of Breast Cancer in Women White

Various studies have demonstrated the dangers of excessive meat consumption. Ranging from diabetes to cancer. However, recent studies say that the bad effects of meat consumption is only valid in a particular race.

Meat consumption is associated with increased risk of breast cancer in white women. However, researchers have not found a similar correlation in black women. According to a study conducted Cancer Institute of New Jersey, most breast cancer research performed in white women.

Therefore, they involve breast cancer patients consisting of 976 black women and 873 white women. Not only that, a total of 1165 black women and 865 white women without cancer also participated.

In white women, the most widely consumed meat have an increased risk of breast cancer is higher than the consumption slightly. This is especially true in women who have menopause. The risk is higher if the weekly consumption increased by about 0.5 kilograms and 0.2 kilograms of red meat poultry.

"This study supports the Caucasian women to limit their intake of meat to reduced breast cancer risk," wrote another researcher, Urmila Chandran. He added that this is in accordance with the recommendation of the American Institute for Cancer Research to limit intake of red meat less than 500 grams per week.

Apparently, the opposite result experienced by black women. According to the study, eating red meat in relatively large amounts can actually reduce the risk of tumors.

"Our study provides new information about the role of the consumption of animal food on the growth of breast cancer in women of European and African descent," said Elisa Bandera, one of the researchers, as quoted by the Huffington Post (4/11/12). However, because this study is the first to examine the relationship with African-American women, more research is needed.
